Newsflash: Veritas Online's secret revealed! It Is An Instrument of EVIL!
Sheesh.
I don't understand people sometimes. Considering the fact that the nature of the last article was completely neutral, we now have fingers pointed at us for being 'biased' when it comes to relaying news, with claims that we 'side with the liberals and diss Malays and the MUSCOM'. Firstly, I would like to happily point out that the sentiments and statements regarding the new SC, whether defending or attacking them, were done on the TAGBOARD. See that thing on the right side of the screen, that looks like a chat window? THAT'S a tagboard. Now, the thing is, Veritas does not control the people who write their opinions there. What we DO control is the ARTICLES, in which, if you read through the previous article again:
'Popularity wins? We'd say so, yeah. But is that entirely a bad thing? We leave that for the public to decide.'
'But what's done is done, and the best that we can do now is to stand behind and support the new SC all the way. We put them there, anyway. Meaning that these people are the best that our batch has to offer.'
You'll notice that we made no such direct attacks on the Malays OR the Muscom. And some of you say that we're the ones being paranoid about there being a Muscom conspiracy. We made no such claim. And so I hereby stand by my stand that the article, along with most of Veritas, is NEUTRAL. Anyone who claims otherwise either needs to have their eyes examined or deserves to be shoved off a cliff. Who's paranoid now?
In the meantime, we do not condone what the people say on the tagboard either. It's your right for free speech, people. You're using it, and we're taking the fire for it. Look, we're all too happy to take the blame for the expression of YOUR opinions, we don't mind being the sacrificial lambs, but we would like to request that, for the sake of keeping the peace (and the sanity of us Veritas members), please keep your comments on the tagboard from being too offensive.
And before you start claiming the tagboard for being the 'liberals-only' voice, I would like clarify that we don't have the kind of technology or software that automatically blocks out and doesn't allow 'non-liberals' from expressing their views. In fact, quite a few people stood up to defend the SC on the Tagboard. If you're not happy with what 'x' says on the tagboard, it's your job to counter and put YOUR views on the tagboard. If you shy away from standing up for your views, then it's not our fault if the tagboard gets swamped with 'evil liberal' messages from the devil.
Furthermore, even Veritas gets attacked on the tagboard and in the comments section, but you don't see US moaning about it, and deleting it, do you?
I present to you exhibit A from the TAGBOARD:
'bloodline: Yup.. we tend to be followers.
But followers use their minds to decide on whom and what to follow, right?
Why do we need to go to the manifesto when we already know these people and their pros and cons from their daily actions?
The manifesto are actually for the idiots who are easily persuaded by fascinating presentations and words.
If you think you are better, then go someplace else because Malaysia is definitely not for you.
On another hand, these complaints from the 'Veritas-is-out-to-get-us!' clan have caused a devastating amount of damage- in the sense that we are no longer allowed to call this site Veritas Online, since 'Veritas' is sponsored by and owned by the college.
Because of that, I regret to announce that...
We're here to stay. We might have to change the title of the blog, but for the sake of everyone, we will keep doing our jobs to keep an update of the happenings in college. We hope to be able to keep the URL, but if we have to change that as well, we will inform you in advance.
We from Veritas, rest our case.

KYUEMians,
Let me introduce myself beforehand. I'm Fez (yes, as in the Fezzibility guy) and I was a proud member of Veritas from 2003 right up until 2005. I had my share of fun designing and contributing to the magazine. Don't believe me? Grab any funky looking magazine covers between 2003-2005 and have a look.
In a way it saddens me to hear that Veritas is currently accused of being polarised. While I still consider this comment of mine as a mere opinion, I believe Veritas shouldn't be blamed fully in any sense.
The magazine is the embodiment of opinions, it is the platform for people of the college to voice out their says. On Veritas side, to be the ONLY mass medium of circulation in college, I'm sure the editors are responsible, unbiased and open; letting anybody with any views to have equal opportunities. The magazine used to be something us KYUEMians talk and laugh about for weeks! Now that is a good magazine!
The students of the college however, must know that living in a close-knit community must have some sense of respect, tolerance and courtesy among each other. Veritas has always been shrouded by controversies since the very first issue, but that is a sign of good publication, don't you think so? It challenges your viewpoint and make you ponder. What students SHOULD NOT do is to take opinions as claims; those two are never the same. We can choose to disagree with opinions, but have some decency and stop blaming Veritas.
I speak my mind and I DO NOT AGREE with the idea of partitioning KYUEMians into the liberals and the muscoms, what the heck is that? I propose a challenge; those who disagree, write an honest opinion to Veritas. For Veritas, be open and transparent, publish those opinions.
Remember that deep down inside, we are still a part of the college and we will carry that identity all the way to the UK and beyond. If you are to bicker on such petty issues even before stepping to the UK, you will be lost.
People here don't mind speaking out and disagreeing with your ideas. Don't let the comfort of KYUEM make you complacent.
